What makes a hairstyle look femme or masc? It is in the details, it is also in the societal norms. How you present yourself makes a statement. Today we wanted to break down what hairstyles are best for MTF, FTM and non-binary folks.
Femme Hairstyles

When wanting to present yourself with a femme look, we think of soft, luscious hair that flows. Chin length bobs also fall into a very feminine category (typically), because traditionally they have been worn by those who present as female. Bobs give a fierce energy of a strong woman, great for trans women of influence who feel confident in a power suit and heels. Almost every female presenting celebrity has sported a bob at some point. Long hair however would be the look of softness and traditional feminine characteristics. A great option is to style the hair up, half up or in braids. Leaving tendrils down will also soften the facial features. A trick for styling hair soft and feminine is using a hot air styler for a blown out look.
Masc Hairstyles
The most iconic looks would be a military crew cut, a short clipper cut or a wedged graduation. They are sharp, have crisp edges and usually emphasize the jaw line. Long hair can be worn when presenting masc, however you will want to wear your natural texture, or straight hair. Edgy looks would be better suiting.

Non-Binary Hairstyles
Having a look that is not defined by the status quo is quite fun. There is so much play to be had in finding the right look. We recommend having your hair shorter than the chin and cheekbone or longer and narrower than the cheekbones. Shags are a great look, and are easy to style, as well as maintain. Here are some fun looks we have done and recommend!
